Bulletproof windows

Whether a bullet goes through a window is decided by the glass’s collision material, not by the glass you see. ModFiveM switches that material for you, the same way the game’s own armoured cars are made.

How the game decides

Every window has two parts: the glass you see, and a collision surface the game uses for bullets and crashes. Each collision surface has a material, and bullets pass only through the shoot-through ones. These are the car glass materials:

MaterialBullets
CAR_GLASS_WEAK120Go through. Ordinary car glass.
CAR_GLASS_MEDIUM121Go through. Ordinary car glass.
CAR_GLASS_STRONG122Go through. Ordinary car glass.
CAR_GLASS_BULLETPROOF123Stopped. Bulletproof glass.
CAR_GLASS_OPAQUE124Stopped. Opaque glass counts as solid.

The game’s armoured Kuruma (kuruma2) has CAR_GLASS_BULLETPROOF on its windows, while the ordinary Kuruma has car glass that bullets go through. ModFiveM does what the game does: it gives your car’s windows the bulletproof material.

Switch it on

  1. Open Windows. Every window is listed with its material, and the view colours the glass.

  2. Turn on Make all bulletproof to make every window bulletproof, or choose single windows, for example only the windscreen.

  3. Export and test it in the game: shoot at the windows from outside and from inside.

Turning it off gives the windows ordinary car glass again, and bullets go through.

What about the meta flags?

vehicles.meta has two flags with bulletproof in their names: FLAG_HAS_BULLETPROOF_GLASS and FLAG_HAS_BULLET_RESISTANT_GLASS. On their own they do not make the windows stop bullets, because the windows’ collision material still lets them through.

That is why so many people find that bulletproof flags ‘do nothing’. The material is what stops the bullet, and the material is what ModFiveM changes.

Server rules

Uyarı

Many roleplay servers forbid bulletproof cars, or allow them only for some jobs. Check your server’s rules before you use one.

A window can stop bullets without bulletproof glass too: when it has CAR_GLASS_OPAQUE, when a seat sits so low that the player’s head hides behind the door, or when solid collision sits behind the glass. Check points these out, so you know whether a car you downloaded is already bulletproof.
