Badges and license plates

Badges and plates are parts of the model with materials of their own, so ModFiveM can find them for you. Remove them, add a plate where there is none, or put your own picture on it.

Remove badges

The brand logos and model names on a car are small parts with the game’s badge material. ModFiveM finds them and marks them in the view.

  1. Open Badges & parts. The badges are listed and lit up in the view.

  2. Press Remove all badges to remove all of them, or remove them one at a time.

  3. Turn the car round and look closely at the front, the back and the wheels.

Good to know

Some logos are not parts of their own but painted into a texture, for example on the steering wheel, the brake calipers or the rims. They are not found as badges, so look for them in the textures.

License plates

  • Remove a plate: take off the front plate, the rear plate or both.

  • Add a plate: put a plate on a car that has none, at the front or the rear.

  • GTA plate: give the car one of the game’s own plates from the factory, such as San Andreas, North Yankton or Liberty City. It is written in carvariations.meta and needs no script.

  • Own plate: start from a template and make a plate picture of your own.

A plate that ModFiveM adds uses the game’s own plate material, like the plates on the game’s cars.

A plate of its own

  1. Open Plate and choose Own plate under Look. Start from a template (Sweden, Midnight or Carbon, say) and change the background, pattern, border, band and the words at the top and bottom.

  2. Pick the text colour. The game writes the text itself, in the colour of the plate style the plate takes over, so the colour decides the style: black is style 5 (North Yankton), which no car in Los Santos uses and every game build has. Then export.

The server decides what the plate says (SetVehicleNumberPlateText). ModFiveM replaces the background of one plate style with a small client script (client/modforge_plate.lua, using AddReplaceTexture), gives the car that style in carvariations.meta and keeps it there. It is the way servers add their own plates. Cars with the same style get the same background, so give each car with its own plate a style of its own. Every colour but black needs game build 3095 or newer.
