Exporting to FiveM

Export gives you a finished FiveM resource as a ZIP: the model and textures in a stream folder, the meta files, and an fxmanifest.lua with every line it needs.

Choose the spawn name

The spawn name is the name you type to spawn the car, such as polcruiser. Change it in Spawn name.

A spawn name appears in many places: the model files, the texture file, vehicles.meta, carvariations.meta and the siren setting. ModFiveM renames them all together, so nothing is left pointing at the old name.

Atenção

If the spawn name is the name of a car in the game, such as police3, your car replaces that car for everyone on the server. Choose a name of its own to add a new car instead.

Export

  1. Press Check and fix what it finds.

  2. Press Export.

  3. Save the ZIP and unzip it. Inside is a folder named after the spawn name.

Bom saber

Exporting needs a ModFiveM account verified in ModFiveM’s Discord. A car costs 30 credits the first time you export it, and the same car again costs nothing. If you are not signed in, the editor asks you to first; signing in opens in a new tab, the car stays open here and the export goes on when you come back. If the verification is missing or the credits do not reach, the editor says so and opens your profile or the pricing page in a new tab. The car stays open, so press Export again when you are done.

What the resource holds

resources/└── [cars]/ └── polcruiser/ ├── fxmanifest.lua ├── data/ │ ├── handling.meta │ ├── vehicles.meta │ ├── carcols.meta │ ├── carvariations.meta │ └── vehiclelayouts.meta └── stream/ ├── polcruiser.yft ├── polcruiser_hi.yft └── polcruiser.ytd

fxmanifest.lua tells FiveM which meta file is which, with a data_file line for each:

fxmanifest.lua
-- Made with ModFiveMfx_version 'cerulean'game 'gta5'
files {  'data/handling.meta',  'data/vehicles.meta',  'data/carcols.meta',  'data/carvariations.meta',  'data/vehiclelayouts.meta',}
data_file 'VEHICLE_LAYOUTS_FILE' 'data/vehiclelayouts.meta'data_file 'HANDLING_FILE' 'data/handling.meta'data_file 'VEHICLE_METADATA_FILE' 'data/vehicles.meta'data_file 'CARCOLS_FILE' 'data/carcols.meta'data_file 'VEHICLE_VARIATION_FILE' 'data/carvariations.meta'

The VEHICLE_LAYOUTS_FILE line and vehiclelayouts.meta are only there when the car has a seat layout of its own, for example after you removed or added a seat.

Put it on your server

  1. Copy the folder into your server’s resources folder. A subfolder in square brackets, such as [cars], is fine.

  2. Add a line to server.cfg with ensure and the folder’s name, as below.

  3. Restart the server.

  4. Spawn the car in the game by its spawn name, polcruiser, with your server’s spawn command.

server.cfg
ensure polcruiser

Update a car on a running server

  1. Stop the resource, or the whole server.

  2. Replace the files with the new ones.

  3. Delete the resource’s folder in the server’s cache, cache/files/polcruiser, so FiveM does not hand out old copies.

  4. Start it again. Players get the new files when they join.
