Seats
Seats are points in the car’s skeleton, not separate parts. ModFiveM moves them, removes them and adds them, and writes a seat layout that matches, so the car keeps working for every player.
How the game knows the seats
Each seat is a bone in the model: a named point that says where a player sits. The game finds the seats by these names, and the layout in vehicles.meta says which seats the car has and how people get in. ModFiveM shows each seat by its plain name:
| Seat | Name in the model |
|---|---|
| Driver | seat_dside_f |
| Front passenger | seat_pside_f |
| Rear left, behind the driver | seat_dside_r |
| Rear right | seat_pside_r |
| Third row, left | seat_dside_r1 |
| Third row, right | seat_pside_r1 |
Move a seat
Open Seats and choose the seat, in the list or by clicking it in the 3D view.
Drag the arrows to move it forward, back, sideways, up or down, or type the distance.
Look at the car from the side. A player should sit with the head clear of the roof and the eyes above the door.
A seat moves in both polcruiser.yft and polcruiser_hi.yft by the same amount, so the car is the same close up and far away.
Remove a seat
Choose the seat and press Remove. Nobody can sit there any more.
ModFiveM writes a new seat layout without that seat and points the car’s vehicles.meta at it. You do not edit any meta file yourself.
Warnung
The driver’s seat cannot be removed. The game’s layouts always start with the driver, and a car without one cannot be driven.
Add a seat
Press Add seat. The new seat gets the next seat name the game knows, such as seat_dside_r for the seat behind the driver.
Move it to where it belongs, as above.
ModFiveM writes a seat layout with the new seat in it.
Why the layout matters
If the model and the layout disagree, for example when a seat was removed from the model but the layout still lists it, other players’ games may fail to build the car. You see your car, but they see nothing, or the game crashes when someone gets in.
That is why ModFiveM never changes the seats without the layout. The new layout goes in vehiclelayouts.meta, and the export adds its line to fxmanifest.lua.
Tipp
If a seat is only in the wrong place, move it rather than removing it. The car keeps the game’s own layout, and nothing else has to change.
